Never one to let an opportunity to pass him by, our Head of Business Development ‘dropped in’ to introduce himself and Nuttall to Ralph Lauren, whilst on a break in New York. As a result, we were invited into the premium apparel brand’s tender process and successfully on-boarded as a supply partner in 2020.
As a business with UK sourcing and manufacturing capabilities, we could offer Ralph Lauren certainty of supply and delivery in conditions that might otherwise have been challenging for a global brand serving the UK market in a post-Brexit world.
The brief was one-off, requiring a totally bespoke approach. We began by surveying the shop area. As the RL team were New York-based, they relied on our people to be their eyes and ears in John Lewis, working as a consultative partner to bring the customer’s ideas to life within the constraints and requirements of the physical space.
We priced fixtures and developed samples of all proposed finishes to Ralph Lauren’s exacting brief, including wet sprayed veneered timbers, metal components finished in a brushed stainless steel and a light box for visual impact. As every store or concession for Ralph Lauren is totally unique, our approach was equivalent to building a ‘live prototype’. With feedback delivered over video calls and many conversations to make sure that we were absolutely on-point in fulfilling the brief, we progressed to install, acting as Main Contractor to take care of every aspect of the installation – which happened in a single night.
From design and technical development, through procurement and installation – our support for Ralph Lauren was truly end-to-end. It keyed into every part of our nine-step PRISM process that ensures quality, attention to detail and a value-engineered approach for maximum customer satisfaction.
